Balayage, accent balayage and babylights — the difference

Balayage starts the colour off the root, and it is mainly the whole head coloured.

Accent balayage also starts off the root, but it is not the whole head. It is more subtle, and a good choice if you want something lower maintenance.

Babylights are very thin highlights. They can be through the whole head or around half of it, and the result reads more blonde, because the highlights sit so close together with minimal dimension.

Every colour service is customised to your own hair inspiration.

How long it takes

Balayage covers a wide range of styles and levels of blonde, so the time varies with what you are asking for, the length and density of your hair, and your previous colour history. As a guide, expect a minimum of about 4 hours, and up to 8 or 9 hours for the more involved work.

What happens at your appointment

You will be greeted by the stylists and reception when you walk in, and offered something to drink. If your stylist is ready, you go straight to their chair; if they are just finishing with the previous client, you can wait on the bench seating until they are ready for you.

You and your stylist then sit down for a consultation about exactly what you are after, based on the service you booked. Your stylist carries out the service, goes over the finished result with you, and then you check out.

Balayage prices

These are starting prices. They differ by stylist, and the final price depends on your hair and the result you want — the only way to get a proper estimate is an in-person consultation, which is free.

Deposits and cancellations

Every service requires a deposit, normally 40% of the base price. The deposit is non-refundable, but it goes towards the cost of your service — it is not an extra charge.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, the notice we ask for depends on how long your appointment is: around 72 hours for shorter services, and up to a week for longer colour appointments. Your stylist will confirm the exact window with you when you book.

A balayage appointment holds several hours of a stylist’s day, which is why we ask for notice. If something comes up, call or text (626) 967-7200 as early as you can and we will do our best to move you.

Book a free consultation

If you are not sure which service you want, or you want a realistic price for your hair, book a consultation. It is free, and you can book online or call or text (626) 967-7200.

We consult before starting or mixing colour on every single service — no exceptions.

Come in for a consultation first if…

  • Your hair has been dyed before and you want to go lighter
  • Your hair is heavily damaged
  • Your hair is very dark, or already very blonde
  • Your hair is very curly

In these cases we would rather see your hair in person and tell you honestly what is achievable in one appointment, and what will take more than one.

Colour corrections

We take on colour corrections for balayage that has not gone to plan elsewhere. Be aware that a correction usually costs more than a standard balayage and takes longer, so it starts with a consultation.

Who will colour your hair

Cynthia (Owner / Master Stylist) and Karlos (Master Stylist) each have more than eighteen years of experience. Jasline is our Junior Stylist, and her pricing reflects that.

Our stylists work across the full range of salon services rather than specialising in one, which means whoever colours your hair also cuts and finishes it.

Keeping your balayage

Most clients come back for a balayage refresh every 4 to 6 months, though it comes down to preference. The regular upkeep in between is a toner, roughly every 8 weeks or so.

What we use

We colour with and carry B3, Megix, Redken, Oligo, Kevin Murphy, Igora and Pravana. We also stock GK Hair, Seven Haircare, Leaf Flower and Truss for home care.

Why clients choose us

We are a friendly, trendy salon, and we genuinely care about what you are expecting to walk out with. We would describe ourselves as honest and reliable — if something is not achievable, we will tell you rather than sell it to you.
